Professor Arvind Mathur, an astute physician and popular teacher, has been actively engaged in teaching, clinical work and health research for the past 44 years.

During his career, Dr Arvind had served on various positions at Dr S N Medical College, Jodhpur, India. He is currently the Director of Asian Centre for Medical Education, Research & Innovation (ACMERI), a non-profit organisation which aims to work for improving health by imparting medical education, conducting research on relevant health issues and developing innovative ways of improving health care delivery, particularly for older adults.

Prof. Arvind Mathur has actively worked for the development of Geriatrics speciality in India. He was a member of the national consultation for the development of the National Program for the Health Care of the Elderly in India. Being a nodal person for the development of the Regional Geriatric Centre in his institution, Dr Mathur had an opportunity to expand the facilities for Geriatric education in his state. Dr Mathur conducted several training programmes of eldercare for doctors, nurses and caregivers. He was on the speciality board for Geriatrics of Medical Council of India. He is a founder member of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics and also its past president. Dr Mathur is also Editor of “Journal of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics” the official publication of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics.

Dr Mathur developed public health education in this region by establishing the school of public health. He also established care and support services for HIV/AIDS in his region.

Dr Arvind is the founder of “Caregivers Asha Society” providing support to informal caregivers.
