The World Health Organisation Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) provides guidance to local community health and care workers about interventions to manage declines in intrinsic capacity, provide social care and support, support self-management and support caregivers.

Since 1992, Ian Philp has worked as an advisor and consultant to support the development and implementation of WHO policies for older people and healthy ageing. He has led a global effort to develop tools to promote person-centred, integrated preventive care for older people, which are now being used to deliver WHO ICOPE Guidance.
